Dark Tarot #1 written by Dennis Greenhill art by Lee Kohse
Don: This seems more like a short story from DC/Vertigo‘s Flinch series than a full comic. Greenhill, as
he notes in his introduction, bases the story on a cool concept: what if a vampire went for a tarot
reading? But the real appeal of the tale isn‘t the premise, but the chilled but inviting atmosphere
created. The characters are truly interesting, striking me as normal people (two tarot readers
are introduced) who have lived unusual lives. In the end, though, what really makes this book
work is the art. Kohse employs a photo-reference style that is quite beautiful. It‘s soft yet dark,
organic but cold. He does as much with blacks and grey-tones as painters do with a complete palette.
I ordered a copy of Dark Tarot from your website. This is great! You guys are going to give the
larger companies a run for their money. I'm going to be watching for you guys.
