In 1992 he became a commercial artist, doing work for such noted clients as: The Hewlett-Packard Company, University of Southern California, Rogersol, Inc., Rycoline, Inc. and many more. Gene also creates a great deal of artwork to many education book publishers including, McGraw Hill, Prentice Hall, Addison Wesly Longman, and others.

Entering the comic industry in 1993, Gene has managed to work on a variety of projects for such publishers as DC Comics, Image Comics, Caliber Comics, Gemstone, PandaHead Productions and Realm Press. In 2001, Gene self published his TALES OF THE CHEROKEE comic, under the publishing name Mandalay Books.

In 2006 Gene and his family moved to Largo, Florida to further explore his hobby: making fun of retired people. Almost immediately he was enslaved by native surfers who made him creating surfing related artwork for Tropic Signs, a major supplier to Ron Jon Surf Shop and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. He also created business illustrations for St. Petersburg College and The Collaborative Labs. Since 2006, Creative Image Licensing and Management has represented Gene's pin-up work to signature groups.
