Kindergoth Returns - July 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN DIEGO, CA, June 10, 2009:

KINDERGOTH RETURNS! The hit dark comedy is back with a new creative team! July 10th, 2009 (San Diego, CA) Ð BloodFire Studios confirmed rumors today that there is in fact a new Kindergoth book in the works. Dennis Greenhill, VP of Publishing, defender of the realm, co-founder of BloodFire Studios, and overall nice guy, stated ÒYes we have a new Kindergoth book in the works. Now get out of my face before I help you qualify for Handicapped Parking.Ó
After several years of defending trademarks, a massive reorganization, and one pastrami overdose at the Carnegie Deli, Kindergoth will relaunch at the 2009 Comic Con International with Kindergoth Special #1. The book will feature 2 stories that introduce several key characters. Each story has its own creative team. Len Wein (Wolverine, Swamp Thing) and series creator Lee Kohse joined forces to write both stories. ÒJesus Goes to SchoolÓ is penciled by Lee Kohse with Joel Adams (Lilz) inking. David K. Wong will be penciling and inking ÒThe Really Really Evil MachineÓ.
BFS co-founder Lee Kohse said of Wein, ÒLen's work on horror and the Simpson's comics made him the perfect choice to help write Kindergoth. And those hats of his are so adorable.Ó BFS Chief Executive In Charge of Colorful Shirts and Straw Hats, Len Wein speaking about his involvement in BFS said, ÒI first met the BloodFire Studios guys when they were doing a signing at Golden Apple Comics in LA. I was really impressed by the quality of their books. The stories were great, the art was amazing, and the characters were compelling. When Lee approached me to help write the new Kindergoth books, I said 'yes' and 'what part of Not within 500 feet don't you understand?'Ó
While Kindergoth was one of top 100 selling indy books from Diamond when it was originally released in 2003, BFS CEO Chad Smith says they do not have any current plans to distribute this particular issue through Diamond. ÒHistorically we have always sold more books through our own self distribution than through Diamond and with the recent benchmark changes at Diamond we would feel more comfortable waiting until our monthly books are ready before we start soliciting in Previews again. Now get out of my face before I help you qualify for Handicapped Parking.Ó Smith said.
KINDERGOTH: SPECIAL #1 $3.50, will be available at the BloodFire Studios booth (#1623) at San Diego Comic Con International and at www.bloodfire.com July 21st. Retailers interested in ordering this or any BFS book can do so by contacting BFS Retailer Support through www.bloodfire.com to get a list of alternate distributors.
BloodFire Studios is an underground comic and graphic novel publisher formed in 1998 by two guys and an imaginary friend. Since that time, BFS has grown to become a group of professional artists and writers in the comic, motion picture, television, and video game industries. All united by their love of the comics medium and a penchant for sarcasm. BFS titles include the best selling Kindergoth, and the critically acclaimed titles DNA Hacker Chronicles, Intergalactic, Diary of Night, Vampyrates, and Utopiates. BFS is also currently helping to develop several TV shows and a sequel to the 2008 indy scifi film The Gene Generation, based on the DNA Hacker Chronicles, staring Bai Ling.
